Beyonce’s “I Am…” Tour doesn’t have the extended tour dates that some of this year’s other summer tours have scheduled, so the majority of the concert dates for 2009 are in large venues at major cities in the United States. Beyonce’s tour includes songs from all of her hit releases and focuses on her latest, ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce.” This album includes her hit songs ‘If I Were a Boy’ and ‘Single Ladies (Put a Ring On it)’.
The persona of Sasha Fierce is not new to Beyonce, being a creation which she uses to show her more confident, aggressive and sexy side to audiences. She says the alter-ego of Sasha Fierce is, however, “strictly for the stage”.
Beyonce came to fame and national prominence with the group Destiny’s Child, but she is no longer just a member of a successful R&B group, having branched out with a solo career that turned into a superstar in her own right. While with Destiny’s Child, Beyonce was considered the focal point of the group and has songwriting credits for many of their hit releases.
Beyonce is married to superstar rapper Jay-Z, making them one of music’s few ‘power couples’. They were married on April 4, 2008.
This year’s tour includes a show in Houston, Texas at the Toyota Center on July 4,2009. This concert comes after Beyonce’s appearance as one of the featured acts at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans and before heading to her own concert in Dallas.
